Shane isn't a big reader but he does enjoy a good book every once in awhile. He learned to read when he was a small child. His mother bought him very simple books that he read over and over. Also his mother read stories to him before he went to bed. Most people probably learn to read in a similar way, by starting simple and then progressively moving towards harder material. Some people read to learn about things. Other people read stories for entertainment. There are all kinds of purposes for reading. In order to be a good reader you don't have to read super fast or be the first one finished. In order to be a good reader you have to be able to understand what you just read and then form an opinion or come to a conclusion about it. Reading is easy for Shane when he has a really good book that keeps him interested the entire time. The hardest part about reading for Shane is finding the motivation and then struggling through the dry, boring parts of books. When Shane finds a book he usually goes for books that have a lot of action, intensity, or mystery. He also likes to read books from his favorite authors, John Grisham and Dan Brown. Shane reads at home usually in the summer when he isn't as busy be he doesn't read very often usually. Shane only enjoys reading when he finds a good book but wouldn't say that reading is one of his favorite things to do.
Shane is not really a writer. People can write for fun, to share information, to express emotion or all kinds of other reasons. In order to write well you have to catch the readers attention and then keep them entertained or interested the entire time. Shane doesn't really enjoy writing at all. He usually follows the teachers rubrics when writing and his ideas are usually either made up or Googled. Shane almost never writes at home just for fun.
